Over the last couple of years I've been blessed to talk with hundreds, if not thousands of people around the world. Our common ground, music. Despite our differences of politics, religion, favorite color (or spelling of colour), music and our emotions derived from music are shared so very precisely. No matter how different we may be, we often are touched in the same exact way by a song. We get caught up in life’s routine but a single note can awaken us and break through our daily calloused programming, helping us get back to feeling. Even if only for temporary relief, music is one thing that makes us all the same. I personally think we're all the same for many other reasons as well but with music it's undeniable!
I used to do web design as a hobby so the idea of a site for tickling the ivories has of course crossed my mind, but lately several things have come up to justify it.
1- Many of my new friends across the pond have reported some of my videos are blocked in their country. That alone is reason enough for me.
2- Facebook uploaded videos don't retain their original resolution and Vimeo & Youtube linked videos on social media keep changing their policies.
3- Ads... I despise ads. I don't want to sit through them and I certainly don't want you to either. I will not allow them on my content or website. I pay for web hosting and pay separately for video hosting so you don't have to waste your music time on ads.
4- Retirement ideas. Should I continue to be blessed and still have the ability to play when I retire (all of my fingers), the thought of playing events for extra retirement money and excitement would be retirement bliss!
5- Sharing the music. Videos are great to watch, but some people just want to use the music for their own videos. I'm more than happy to make them available for free!
To download my variations see the "Listen" page. For now you would need to log in to a Soundcloud account to download them. I am working out the kinks on setting up my own download page but still researching potential legality issues.
Money...
I have a job that pays my bills and I take side work to pay for that occasional luxury item I desire or trip I want to take. However, I will never have ads, never be a Patreon, never have a PayPal button, never accept a donation, and never have a paid membership of any kind.
I do NOT have a "gift". At least not one of talent, but I am certainly blessed with the gift of patience, passion and determination for music (not for normal worldly nonsense). I could never accept money for sharing these gifts.
I don't look down on those who like to show appreciation with money (I'm an extreme tipper myself) but I wanted to mention this since it has come up often and I'm just not interested.
Some people tell me I should sell my "re-works" on Amazon. Even songs I may re-work from the ground up are still other people's great works and without them, my "interpretation" wouldn't exist, so I have a morally hard time with profiting off something that isn't 100 percent my own.
What makes me smile ear to ear are comments and getting to know more people that share the passion for music!
