My Piano Videos

Rachmaninoff’s Prelude

Rachmaninoff’s hands were enormous to say the least. He rarely left a finger out of his chords. My all time favorite piece to listen to is the almighty "Rach 3" (Rachmaninoff's 3rd concerto). Although I cannot read music I do have the score to gaze upon. Even though it's black notes on white paper the plethora of notes makes the sheet music nearly completely black. It really does make the jaw drop to see.

I am a patient Dan and I love a challenge. This video is a test run and very incomplete, but a piece I'll certainly be revisiting one day.

Keyboard Classics

5 of my favorite classic keyboard tunes with visual hints to guess the songs names. My friends did horrible on naming the 80's top 10, although they were able to hum all the songs and even knew the words, go figure. If you haven't tried that one yet, it's below!

Me, my keys and my memories!

80's music top ten - guess the song names.

A video I did for facebook friends to test their musical minds. If you're over 40 and you can't get at least 8, then do 50 push-ups and say 100 hail Mary's!

Opus to the Organ

Taking my hobby to work with me. As creative as I try to be, this is not my own idea but rather something I saw decades ago on TV that I've wanted to duplicate. The audio seems to be sadly out of sync (in the beginning). This was a major video editing effort with what you see as one video actually being 11 videos layered to pass the effect of two me's. I had to trace frame by frame to make this look real. The piano alone is really 3 videos to make it look larger than it was. This was the opposite of most videos to where it was one night to record, 3 months to edit the video!

Bach's Prelude

My first video with my new keys! The Korg Kronos 2.

This beauty not only has gorgeous sound, but the keybed perfectly simulates that of a piano. Weighted keys from low to high (the weight difference), keys are the correct size and it even simulates string resonance and pedal noise! Finally I can go from practice to playing out on a Grand Steinway, Bosendorfer or Yamaha with the only major adjustment being the foot pedals. This piece was a tad rushed and didn't go through my typical refinement process but I will revisit it to do it again. Okay, I will try to... Alright,,, I will TRY to Try!   (:

A River flows in you

One of the many greats from Yiruma.
This was one of the first songs I tackled after many years off of the ivories. Another song that I need to redo now that I have a much better piano and have improved my playing ability.

Comptine d'Un Autre Été

This was a late tribute to my dad. The animated video I first saw of it made me think of him. I definitely need to redo this now that I have a much better piano style keyboard and have improved my technique a bit. Prior to this song I had taken many years off from playing and my left and right hand coordination was practically nonexistent.
